Something to use this week
CBT and solution-focused work, so sessions end with a concrete step rather than a general principle.
Rotating shifts, hyperfocus on the problems that grab you, and the admin that never gets done. Practical ADHD support for adults in Kitchener, online.
If the pattern goes back further than the to-do list, Ghazal Sheikhtaheri, RP (Qualifying), works in Schema Therapy (depth-oriented and unhurried).
Some people want tools for this week. Others want to trace a pattern to its root. Both are good therapy. Ghazal is currently booking by waitlist (3–4 weeks).
Most adults arrive at this conversation having already tried harder. Harder is not the missing ingredient, and it has usually been the only advice on offer for twenty years. What is actually difficult is a specific set of things: starting, sequencing, holding information in place while you use it, and switching between one mode and the next.
(This page is general information, not an assessment. A Registered Psychotherapist does not diagnose ADHD or prescribe medication, and you do not need a diagnosis for this work to be useful.)
Tina works in cognitive behavioural and solution-focused approaches, which in practice means sessions are structured without being rigid. You name what you want to be different, the two of you work out what is holding it in place, and you leave with something to try before the next one.
The systems are deliberately small. An elaborate one built on a good week will not survive a bad one, and every abandoned system becomes further evidence for a story you have been telling yourself for a long time. That story is the second half of the work, and for most people it turns out to be the half that was costing more.

Tina Abadi, RP, CRPO #13777, with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.
Including the part of this that was never only about focus. Sessions in either language.
No commute and no waiting room, so the trip to an appointment is one less thing to manage.
Insurance receipts provided after every session. Tina is a fully Registered Psychotherapist, so psychotherapy with an RP is commonly covered; please confirm the details with your insurer.

Kitchener works to more than one clock. The 2021 census counted more than 36,000 residents in trades, transport, equipment and manufacturing jobs, where shift work is common, and close to 16,000 in science, engineering and technology occupations. For an adult with ADHD each rhythm has its own trap. A schedule that keeps moving dismantles the routines an ADHD brain leans on, and sleep, which attention depends on, is often the first thing to go. Engineering and software work can reward hyperfocus for years, until the role shifts toward coordination, documentation and follow-through.
What brings people in is rarely the distraction on its own. It is what has piled up on top of it: the forms left unopened, the project stuck at eighty per cent, the licence renewal that lapsed again, and a private conviction that everyone else is simply trying harder. For people who moved to Kitchener from another country the paperwork is heavier still: permits, credential assessments and a new tax system, often in a second language. Attention in ADHD follows interest and urgency more than importance. Seeing that clearly, and separating it from the shame that usually attaches to it, is often the first useful step.
The work is cognitive behavioural and solution-focused, and it is built around the week you actually have: a few anchors that survive a shift change, external systems for the unglamorous tasks, and honest attention to the cycle of hyperfocus and crash. About three in four Kitchener commuters get to work in under half an hour, so the value of online sessions is less about distance than about one fewer appointment to get to. Some people arrive unsure whether ADHD is even the right word; that question is welcome, although a Registered Psychotherapist does not diagnose. Sessions are with Tina Abadi, RP, in English or Farsi.
