Referring a patient to NoorMinds
For family doctors, nurse practitioners, and settlement and campus counsellors: who sees patients here, who is booking now, and how your patient gets started.
Online psychotherapy across Ontario, in English and Farsi
NoorMinds Psychotherapy is a small online practice for individuals, couples and families with teens and young adults. Sessions take place by secure video through Jane, from wherever your patient has privacy in Ontario, and are never recorded.
The practice was founded by Ghazal Sheikhtaheri, RP (Qualifying), who leads it as Clinical Director. Three psychotherapists registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) see patients here, and every one of them works in English and Farsi, so your patient can have therapy in the language they think and feel in.

What we can send back
What a patient discusses in therapy is confidential. With your patient’s consent, the clinician they see can keep you informed.
- That your patient has started, if they agree to us telling you.
- What you need for their care, as their family doctor or referring provider.
- Only what the purpose needs. Your patient names who we may speak with, and can change or withdraw that consent at any time.
- Without consent, nothing, except where the law requires or allows it.
The limits are set out in our privacy policy.
Fees, receipts and coverage
NoorMinds does not offer direct insurance billing. Your patient pays for each session and receives a receipt showing the provider’s name, CRPO registration, the service and the amount paid, to submit for reimbursement. Psychotherapy with a Registered Psychotherapist in private practice is not covered by OHIP.
Many extended health benefit plans in Canada cover psychotherapy provided by a Registered Psychotherapist, but coverage varies by plan. Tina Abadi, RP, and Roya Dadollahi Sarab, RP, are fully registered, so psychotherapy with an RP is commonly covered for their sessions; Ghazal Sheikhtaheri holds the Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) designation, which some plans reimburse the same way and some do not, so a patient booking with her should confirm before the first session.
When to refer elsewhere
NoorMinds offers ongoing psychotherapy, online. Please refer elsewhere for:
- Crisis or emergency care. NoorMinds is not a crisis service.
- Care that has to happen in person. Every session is online, by secure video.
- A comprehensive DBT programme. DBT skills are used here within individual therapy, which is not a comprehensive DBT programme: that also includes skills groups, between-session phone coaching and a clinician consultation team.
