Steady support, one step at a time.
I'm Roya, a Registered Psychotherapist with a Master of Arts in Psychology and over 10 years in the mental health field. My approach is warm, collaborative and culturally responsive, and I work with individuals and couples. Sessions in English and Farsi (فارسی).
What brings people to this work.
Anxiety, Depression & Social Anxiety
The worry that won't switch off, the low mood that flattens a week, the dread before walking into a room full of people. We look at the patterns keeping it in place and build coping strategies you can practise between sessions.
Self-Esteem, Grief & Life Transitions
Low self-worth, loss, and the stretches when life changes shape faster than you can adjust. A safe, non-judgmental space to process difficult emotions and reconnect with your strengths.
Newcomers & Settlement Stress
Culture shock, settlement stress, and the emotional work of adapting to life in a new country, understood within your own cultural context, in English or Farsi.
Couples
Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples, aimed at the pattern between you and at building a healthier connection.
I hold a Master of Arts in Psychology from Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman, and I work with individuals and couples, online across Ontario.
I support people with anxiety, depression, social anxiety, low self-esteem, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, and challenging life transitions. I also work with newcomers navigating culture shock, settlement stress, and the emotional work of building a life in a new country.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive. I draw on CBT, ACT, DBT, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and, for couples, Emotionally Focused Therapy, to help you understand unhelpful patterns, strengthen coping strategies, and build a healthier relationship with yourself and others.
Therapy isn't about changing who you are or telling you how to live. It's a safe, non-judgmental space to explore, process, and find new ways forward.
Sometimes life can feel like being stuck in a deep pit. I hold the rope steady; you take each step out. Progress doesn't have to be perfect, and you don't need to have it all figured out before we begin.
